As important mechanical component, rolling bearings have achieved international standardization in their main dimensions. Although ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) has reviewed the issue of unifying bearing codes internationally, bearing companies in various countries still operate independently and have not yet achieved uniformity. This time we mainly introduce the method of coding general purpose rolling bearings and their components in China. The Chinese bearing code consists of the basic code, the prefix code, and the suffix code. The basic code consists of the bearing type code, the dimension series code, and the bore diameter code.
Firstly, let’s learn about the bearing type code. In the new chinese standard GB/T 272-2017, bearing type codes are represented by Arabic numerals or uppercase Latin letters. 0 is the code for double row angular contact ball bearings, 1 is self-aligning ball bearings, 2 is self-aligning roller bearings and thrust self-aligning roller bearings, 3 is tapered roller bearings, 4 is double row deep groove ball bearings, 5 is thrust ball bearings, 6 is deep groove ball bearings, 7 is angular contact ball bearings, 8 is thrust cylindrical roller bearings, N is cylindrical roller bearings (double or multiple rows are represented by the letter NN), U is insert ball bearings, QJ is four-point-contact ball bearings, and C is toroidal bearings.
