Angular Contact Ball Bearings

Bearing Overview
Angular Contact Ball Bearings are designed to accommodate combined radial and axial loads simultaneously. The contact angle between the balls and raceways allows these bearings to support axial loads in one direction while maintaining excellent speed capability and running accuracy.
Single-row angular contact ball bearings are typically used in pairs to support axial loads in both directions and provide higher system rigidity. They are widely used in machine tool spindles, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, electric motors, and other high-speed industrial applications.
Available in various contact angles, preload classes, and precision grades, our angular contact ball bearings can be supplied for both standard industrial equipment and demanding high-precision applications.

Bearing Types
Single Row Angular Contact Ball Bearings
Single-row angular contact ball bearings can accommodate radial loads and axial loads in one direction. They are commonly mounted in matched pairs for applications requiring higher rigidity and bidirectional axial load support.
Double Row Angular Contact Ball Bearings
Double-row angular contact ball bearings provide axial load carrying capacity in both directions within a compact design. They offer higher load capacity than single-row bearings while simplifying installation.
Contact Angle Guide
| Contact Angle | Designation | Characteristics | Typical Applications |
| 15° | C | Highest speed capability, lower axial load capacity | High-speed spindles |
| 25° | AC | Balanced speed and axial load performance | Precision machinery |
| 30° | A | Increased axial load capacity | General industrial applications |
| 40° | B | Maximum axial load capacity and rigidity | Pumps, gearboxes, heavy-duty equipment |
As the contact angle increases, axial load capacity and rigidity increase, while maximum operating speed decreases. Selecting the appropriate contact angle depends on the balance between speed, load, and system stiffness requirements.
Mounting Arrangement
DB (Back-to-Back)
DB arrangement provides the highest rigidity and excellent resistance to overturning moments. It is commonly used in machine tool spindles and precision equipment.
DF (Face-to-Face)
DF arrangement offers better tolerance to shaft misalignment and simplifies installation in applications where alignment accuracy is less critical.
DT (Tandem)
DT arrangement is used when higher axial load capacity in one direction is required. The axial load is shared by both bearings.

Q & A
How do I choose between 15°, 25°, 30°, and 40° contact angles?
Higher contact angles provide greater axial load capacity and rigidity, while lower contact angles offer higher speed capability.
What is the difference between DB, DF, and DT mounting arrangements?
DB offers maximum rigidity, DF provides better misalignment tolerance, and DT increases axial load capacity in one direction.
Can a single-row angular contact ball bearing support axial loads in both directions?
No. Single-row bearings support axial loads in one direction only. For bidirectional axial loads, matched bearings, double-row bearings, or four-point contact bearings should be used.
What preload should I choose?
The preload selection depends on speed, rigidity, and operating conditions. Light preload is common for high-speed applications, while heavier preload improves rigidity.
When should I use hybrid ceramic angular contact bearings?
Hybrid ceramic bearings are recommended for ultra-high-speed, low-friction, and electrically insulated applications.
What industries commonly use angular contact ball bearings?
They are widely used in machine tools, motors, pumps, compressors, robotics, and automation equipment.
